12/28/2005: "A gust of wind straight from the heart."

Day 2 went well...not as much work, but that also meant not as much pain. So that was good. Day three is starting off rather slow as we are waiting on a call from a locksmith and from some people with boxes. Big metal boxes. The kind that rip your hands up. ::holds up hands:: Belive me, I know they do.

And actually, I learned some more interesting information last night. As it turns out, for this comming year the first meeting of the GAMER SIG is going to be on the Monday that we all have off from school for New Years day observance. So, as long as you people remember and listen to me, then we can have a new years meeting that'll be awesome for everyone! Or whatever. But yeah, I'll still have to figure out what we'll do for it when I get back, assuming I can alert enough people about it before Monday.

And in the way of games...In my ongoing quest to complete all DooM games in order, I've finished D1E1. That was fun. Now there's two more episodes in the first game, the second game has one episode, I don't know if I'll count T.N.T. or evioltion because they're just hella hard and technically mods, and then DooM 3 I'll just play again because. Speaking of which, I was playing the Classic DooM mod for DooM 3 before I left for the city, so I started that seeing remakes of old levels, and now that I played Knee Deep in the Dead all the way through, I've seen the origional of the remakes I didn't recognize. It was trippy, I'll tell you that right now.

And just because I'm trying to get better at the whole game dev thing, by the time I'm done with all the games, I might be ready to try my hand at making my own game with the DooM I/II Engine. I have DooMED, which lets you hack the doom game file to change the way that weapons and monsters and sounds and text and stuff act, and then I have another editor which lets me replace the files in the .pak/.wad files so I can make new pictures for people and new levels and basically make it a more origional experience. I did one cool thing once where I replaced the fist with a katana. It was only an asthetic change of course, but it was definately a start. What I need is a map editor. then ideas for maps. I have a few random ideas, but they mostly are undeveloped and suck. So...I'll have to get to work on that.

BTW: Don't forget to tune in to Game Surge Radio tonight at 10 for Gamer's united. If I can find any internet in my uncle's apartment, I'll be listening too and probally be on the IRC channel too. I swear, you people who don't listen to are oblivious to what you're missing out on! Check out www.gamesurgeradio.net for more info.
