09/04/2005: "Multi Tiered Madness"

...That's what I get. You hang around with fire, and soon enough you're on fire. That may sound retarded, but that's onl how it sounds. It really relates to my grand scheme for combining DooM and D&D. I don't know if other people have allready done that. I sometimes get they feeling that someone must have. But I don't really care. The importaint part here is not so much that it gets created, so much as I'm the one who creates it. I have that particular complex about a lot of things.

But enough about that.

Thing is, since this modern/future campagin is my little baby, I'm gonna have to be the DM (yeah, not really a dungeon, but screw you, that's what). But I really can't help but play in this myself, cause, well, it's D&D: DooM & Dice. So the answer is simple, make LCom am NPC. Basically after the first map, he'll come in and be all like, "Hey, I hacked the facilities cameras and you guys were pretty bitchin." Then he takes them and goes with them thru another map. And in the event they all survive, he'll take them to a much harder map. But he'll be the one to fly around all ninja like, dissapear and reappear latter with key items and crap. You know, be all LCom-ey. Basically treat the players as grunts. I guess I'll have to work in later something about him slipping up to show true motives, or turncoating or something interesting. I think I have good setup, but I'm lacking a bit in the content department. Well, I hope what I have allready will last one meeting. Just mght. Well, it better, cause when I'm at a point like this in plotting I need to get finished there cause the details that I can't ever plan for whatever reason will bring up enough that I should have little problem deciding where we need to go next.

Oh yeah, and in true LCom fashion, I'm giving myself a lot of bonus feats and some higher stats and crap, but then Im just not going to use them as much to ballance out. Fyi, I am nabing the BFG. I'm not letting any actauly players have it this early on.

Now, if I ever got bored with all that work I would remember that I have an essay I have to write by Tuesday so I dont start the school year by failing English. I'm going with the lens that says:

The Victorian pet and critic Mathew Arnold said that literature is "at bottom a criticism of life."

And I'm doing that one because the other one has a critic (everyone's a critic -.-) talking about how a good book takes the reader into a whole new world of the book. I agree with him, cause that's usually what makes a good book for me too. However, neither one of these books did that for me, so it would be like an antithesis if that's the one I did. And besides, this one is something that I think I can work real easy with. Cause I'm gonna leave out The Red Badge of Courrage (casuse it says you don't have to use that one (even tho ironically that was the book I liked more)), and instead I'm going to use Macbeth along with Scarlet Letter. Luckily, SL was so bad that instead of writing about it in praise, I can yell about it in analytical essay form. And I'm going to pair it with Macbeth so that the theme of my essay is going to be how our lives are easily criticised because we create all our worst problems internally and usually based on fallicies, and that's quite so laughable that you really can't talk about peoples thoughts without coming across something to laugh at.

Oh yeah, I laugh.

Macbeth halucinates! He starts talking to himself...a himself that's a bloddy dagger. And all it took to set him off was a wild greeting from some old crazy "witches". Even his wife went nutty when he came home with his insane talk of prophesy. Then they went apeshit nutjob and killed a bunch of people, in the end they brought about their own end, in the very manner prophisied, to bring insult to burning castle sword injury. I would even think that the witches are the keys inserted to show how a little stimulus can bring about wild changes in the nature of man.

Then to the marvelous Scarlet Letter. This is like a lightning round for me considering that one of my favorite hobbies and second natrures is to look at christanity and laugh my ass off at the crazies therein and spawned in others from it. So one of my first main points is to point how Hester and Dimesdales' attitudes and mindsets changes drmatically when they agreed to run away. I think it's fun just to look at how a chance to escape torment elates the human mind. Then thre's how the entire town focuses on Hesters infedelity without looking at their own faults. Even better is how the worst damage is done to each by themselves. Dimsdale is physically harmed by his own mental punishment! In the one sence, it's a very nice homage to the amazing power of the human mind, but in the sence where I can use it in my final essay, it's really just kinda showing how poor the mind actually works, in that it would use latent power to cause harm on it's own body rather then focusing on what's actually wrong and then fixing it without destroying itself.

So yeah, add in technical terms, quotes from the works, maybe some more examples, an intro and conclusion, and then there you have my final essay. With luck I'll make at least 2 or pages. And I'd like to mention at this point that if anyone tries to take my essay Idea here, I can point back here to a site with my name and style all over it, and also my thought process that goes directly into my final, and of course, not to mention, I'll track you down and beat the living snot out of you. Food for thought ^_^.

And now to decide wether it's better to just put the laptop on the floor and sleep on the couch out here, or to do the whole paper collect and unplug thing to bring everything back to my room so I can sleep in that icebox that I know and love so much. Oy, choices...
