04/25/2005: "Useful"
Ok, what I really need is like...a four foot grippy arm thing. I've begun using post it notes to write things down. I can keep them in my pocket, and I can put them where I need them. And right now I can see the 6 post-its I stuck to my desk with my ideas, but...I just...can't...seem to reach....them.......
::Gets up and goes to get them::
Ok, let's see what we got here... "Postit notes Damn useful!!"
::makes eye contact with reader for a moment, then throws note over shoulder to land in places unknown::
"Tom goes to the Mayor HATE IT!!! always have." For those of you who are cable ready, then odds are you watch Adult Swim. One of their new hit shows, Tom goes to the Mayor, gets the seal that says it gets my undying hate for...ever. Tom Peters is the loveable protaginist, but at every turn he is BEAT, HUMILATED, TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, and otherwise FORCED into bending to the will of the MORALLY CORRUPT and MORONIC TO THE POINT OF BEING PAINFUL people who rank higher then him. I hate it. It's not funny. It's saddening and unjust. I just...I...GAH! KILL WRITERS! I've always felt that way tho. Some things are funny, and some things just...not. This is crap. That's my opinion, and it's also my opinion that if you find that sort of drivel funny then you are worse then the people who came up with it. At least South Park can have a deep meaning to it sometimes.
"MIND LIMITLESS EXPANSE" Ah yes...this was just some odd little musing. People say "Escape into your mind", or something to that effect. Sure, the brain is a thing, and it's kinda small (for most people), but how about we think of it the other way. As long as we're open, the mind is an endless plane. Bigger then the one we're on now. So it would be like "escaping out to your mind". Well, I guess if you can see it that way, then you're eligible to do that...
"Australian Rapers" Yeah...It's this group called Omega. They're Australian rappers. I have one song by them and I really like it. He talks about slaying deitys and angry looking midgets. "Got no time for pint-sized guys." I like that line. If you're lucky, you'll be around while I'm listening to it and you'll hear it too.
"Even Mury onlyspenthis time s m Tuesday" A joke about how I was writing to much...I think. Like how, even that dude from Tuesdays with Maury only spent his time with Maury on Tuesday. Not every friggen night. That uses up a lot of material. Belive me.
And now the last one... "5ptz.com Legalized street art" 5ptz.com Apparently down by where I used to live somewhere, they've come up with a thing where they give space to graphiti artists so that tagging is legal. And it's for all them high quality art type peoples. Well I think it's cool...
Now on to the things I came up with as I sat down to write, and didn't have pre-planned.
So I got a call from Heather earlier. It's cool tho. Yeah, like it wouldn't be... But she needed me to translate something out of boy speak. You see, she doesn't get that whole point that guys are a lot less complicated then women seem to belive them to be. That, and since we seem to have completly opposing views on relationships, we have some very intense arguments. But they work well, cause we cover the entire spectrum of ideas. So that's why we kinda got that mutual go-to person thing going on. Mostly her to me, but it can work backwards to since she seems so interested in my relationships. Good for her. At least one of us is. Moving on...
So pops has finally taken me up on my want (of course in his own fashion of using it as a wacky experiment) of putting Linux on a laptop so that I can use it. WHY LINUX YOU MAY ASK? I'LL TELL YOU IF YOU'RE LUCKY! You are. Linux -or at least the version he used- is a very tiny OS. So it should run like lighting even on an older system. Which is ok, cause all I use my laptop for is IM (which is fufilled by GAIM), MP3 playing (taken care of by the XML player), writing (there is a Linux equivalent, I've been assured), and some limited websurfing (I can keep my firefox! Woot!). And I can finally start learning Linux, instead of just staring as lines and lines of code fly by my face.
My mech divison of legos is growing. Yay. I just need to figure out all the stats and add more weapons. Then I can put them into battle. But for now I'll just go with my excuse that they're deadly art. Art is my thing afterall.
So I went to the WVPCUG meeting earlier. And I would like to say THANK GOD for the 5 feet the table gave me between me and the other guys. Old guys. 4 of them. ::Eyes twitch a bit:: But at least now my SIG is official. And the first meeting is MAY 9TH. GOT THAT?
MAY 9TH.
If you're a gamer at all, I want you to show up at town hall on that day. Time? Uhh...I'll get back to you on that...but still. Yeah. I'm gonna show you what my proposal to the board was, and then I'm gonna lie down, either to sleep or to play Hot Wheels Turbo Racing. Good luck folks.
Proposal for a new special interest group (SIG)
A number of students in the Warwick Valley High School have shown an interest in the field of computer and video games. I suggest starting a special interest group just for these people who want to discuss the many emerging aspects of the gaming field. This SIG would be known as the Gamer SIG.
Each meeting would include an open discussion about new games, old games, modifications to old games, and ideas about where the entire field is heading. The meetings would also include an interactive demo of a different genre of games for each meeting. These demonstrations would cover games not only on the computer, but on the dedicated game systems such as Playstation, Gamecube, and Dreamcast, among others systems as well. There will even be meetings dedicated to more nostalgic systems such as the Genesis, NES, and Atari 2600, and would focus on the early age of computer gaming. Another possibility to include in each meeting is a competition between the attendees, with the winners names to be posted on the website.
This group could be held on the second Monday of each month in the spot previously occupied by the digital photo SIG. The first meeting could be held at the next available time, which would be May 9th. I volunteer my time to lead this group. Initially, the PC User’s Group would need to provide access to the projector to use at each meeting. It is also my understanding that the group would be able to provide refreshments and advertising of this event on their website, and an e-mail account of gamer@wvpcug.org where I will be able to respond to questions concerning the SIG’s meetings and operation. I will handle all other aspects of organizing this SIG and am ready to start with the first meeting on May 9th.
Thank you for your time.
